about

Remastered to 32-bit digital by Tim Story, 2022. "Wheat and Rust" was Tim's fourth and final album for the small but influential Norwegian label Uniton/Cicada. Released in 1987, it came just on the cusp of the greater renown he would enjoy a year later with the release of Glass Green on Windham Hill, and a Grammy nomination the following year. Intricate minimalist patterns and a greater reliance on the new breed of digital synthesizers, give a slightly icier edge to the timbres, mixing with the trademark warm piano figures from his preceding releases in new, expressive ways. Wheat and Rust became the source material for a reimagined limited edition "Rust Smudges" (2022).
