Remixed by me from the original multi-track tapes, and remastered by the legendary Bernie Grundman for this first-ever US release. Windham Hill's Will Ackerman included "In This Small Spot" on his "Piano Sampler" compliation , and arranged for this re-release after publishing my 'Glass Green' album in 1987. One of a small edition of 'Untitled' cassettes with unique rubber-stamp artwork. From 1985, this special edition of original (1984) Uniton cassettes featured original rubber-stamp art that I created individually - each cover is unique. I hand-stamped these at the studio of good friend and artist extraordinaire Mark Packo, from the hundreds of unique rubber stamps he had designed. Of the approximately 100 cassettes I made (mostly as gifts for colleagues and friends), I kept about 40 - these are the remaining copies, while they last.

about

"5 Stars... What's most apparent is a feeling of space and proportion. Everything is so tastefully arranged: the subtle and sparse use of backing instruments, the simplicity of melody, the moments of silent suspense which keep the listener balanced on a knife-edge. Little wonder the album is without name. Like an untitled canvas it suggests and hints, asking you to form your own conclusions. I've already formed mine." -- Sounds, UK

"There is something particularly autumnal about Story's music, the slow, meandering melodies combined with his rich, earthy piano. Like great classical music, Story deals not in specific ideas, but in feelings... Tim Story may restore faith in the future possibilities of this new area of exploration." -- San Diego Tribune, USA

"With uncommon ability, Story is able to color the melody lines without obscuring them. This is great artistry in a small format... listen and you will be rewarded with music of rare quality and beauty." -- Aftenposten, Norway

'Untitled' was my second album for the independent Norwegian label Uniton Records, released in 1984. It was recorded predominantly in my makeshift apartment studio with the notable exception of the grand piano, which was recorded in a small theater at the University of Toledo. The first of my work to attract a bit of an international following, the album was released by Polygram in Japan, and a re-release a few year's later on Lost Lake Arts, a division of Windham Hill Records in the USA.
