about

Originally released on cd on the Lektronic Soundscapes label in 1997, with a cd reissue in 2005 on Nepenthe Music, "Drop" was the second collaboration between Dwight Ashley and Tim Story. Coming 5 years after their debut "A Desperate Serenity", "Drop" found the pair drifting away from it's predecessor's dense drones toward a more pointillistic experimentalism. The album's opener "A Ripening", with it's rippling, syncopated piano sequences, established this new direction immediately, and quickly became the duo's signature track for many listeners. Quirky, decidedly dark but with an ever-present sense of humor, "Drop's" idiosyncratic musique concrete is also strangely tuneful.

"...Incredibly visualistic music, filled with moments of dread, beauty, fear and pain... Wonderfully disturbing" Wind and Wire, USA

All tracks remastered to 32-bit by Tim Story for this 2023 Bandcamp release.
